News broke to the internet saying that the famous guild presidential candidate, Juma Wasswa Balunywa (JWB) is out of the MUBS Guild president race 2024. This sparked a heavy buzz online as many were left asking themselves why he did not get through the nomination stage.

Actually, we saw many people blame the university administration and the academic board which sat on 15th February 2024, saying that it has issues with Juma Wasswa Balunywa because of the things his father Balunywa did at the university while he was still a boss there.

This compelled the school administration to make an official statement refuting the allegations, asserting that everything being talked about is false. In the letter released to the internet, the Guild education Minister Richard Muheire said that the administration is not against any student.

I attended the academic meeting held on 15th Feb 2024 and no single name of any student was mentioned. The allegations saying that Juma Wasswa Balunywa name was mentioned and discussed are false” part of the statement stated.

So what happened?

The real reason why Juma Wasswa Balunywa (JWB) was pushed out of the race is because he had many retakes. This goes against the requirements by the constitution which governs the MUBS Guild race as it states that, any candidate to contest for the guild presidency must be academically excelling.

About Juma Wasswa Balunywa’s retakes, it is being known that, before showing interest to stand for the guild president at MUBS 2024, he had a retake, and then the recent exams that have been released, still he has another retake which acted as the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Now, the guild race is remaining with Steward Chopre Ofoyrwoth  who is now the students’ favorite. Followed by Kawuma Douglas Brian (KDB) and Amanya Moses. Those are the ones so far that have been confirmed. We shall get you posted.
