Remember that paparazzi shot of Doreen Kabareebe and Jose Chameleone that caused a stir? Turns out, the fallout for Kabareebe was way worse than anyone imagined. The model recently opened up about the incident, revealing that the constant public scrutiny and backlash from her family forced her to flee Uganda.
Kabareebe described the situation as unbearable, with the photo appearing on the front page of tabloids every day. Imagine opening the paper each morning to see THAT image plastered everywhere talk about intense pressure!
The experience was especially difficult for her father, who was alive at the time. Determined to escape the negativity, Kabareebe initially set her sights on the United States to pursue a Master’s degree.
However, her plans were shattered when a visa officer, holding a copy of the infamous photo, denied her application. Talk about adding insult to injury! This rejection became a turning point, leading Kabareebe to seek refuge in Dubai.
She spent two years rebuilding her life, working at Dunkin’ Donuts and later at the Marriott Hotel in Abu Dhabi. It was in the Gulf that she met her current partner, an American citizen who helped her relocate to the US in 2022.
