Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has come out to dismiss the rumor that is making rounds on social media suggesting that the examinations body uses an imbalanced grading system.
In this statement released by the Executive Director of UNEB Dan Odongo, it is being informed that the grading system is uniform and, is in tandem with the set quality assurance procedures without any discrimination on any basis-regional, urban or rural different from what the information moving on social media suggests.
This particular message making rounds on the internet indicates that, the UNEB grading system is selective and that some candidate was given a wrong grade in the recently released 2023 PLE results basing on the region this candidate was staying in, something that disturbed parents and netizens.
Moreso, it was alleged that the UNEB grading system can be easily accessed and scripts of candidates can be tampered with. In defense, Mr. Dan Odongo said that this system is highly secure and no one can access anything.

“We wish to inform the public that the alleged scores of a candidate said to have been given a wrong grade do not apply to the recently released 2023 PLE results. We have reached out to the author of the original message, who confirms that he first wrote the message in 2018 and shared it on a forum, where members took screenshots that they shared.” Dan Odongo continued to explain. And said that the parent did not disclose who revealed these things to him.
