The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president Cindy Sanyu has come out and appealed to the government to equally distribute resources. This comes after singer Edrisa Musuuza alias Eddy Kenzo was spotted paying a visit to the president of Uganda.
In the recent days, the Uganda Musicians Association has been struggling to cope with the competition after the Big Talent boss Eddy Kenzo formed his own Uganda Musicians Federation (UMF). This brought a stiff bad blood between the two camps as we saw various musicians defect from UMA to UMF, leaving Cindy helpless.
Now, Eddy Kenzo has tried by all means to show his fellow musicians that he is willing to ‘lobby’ something for them. The recent scenario being when he was hosted in parliament alongside other artistes like Jose Chameleone. From their, we again saw Kenzo in State House meeting the president, meaning he is at work.
It seems he was given a token or something, because this meeting did not go well with Cindy Sanyu as she came out and did an outburst on social media asking the government to equally share the resources to all musicians, meaning those that scribe to both groups of UMA and UMF.
In her words, she said that the government is currently funding the ‘newly’ established entity forgetting those that were formed before it. In her argument, Cindy Sanyu showed that those that organized themselves before Eddy Kenzo’s UMF, are the ones that have tirelessly worked for the music industry.

“Urgent Appeal to the govt for Equitable Distribution of Music Industry Financial Support.
I am Cindy Sanyu, the President of the Uganda Musicians Association. While we appreciate the government’s commitment to supporting the music industry with funds, we believe it is crucial to ensure a fair distribution of these funds.
Currently, the approval seems skewed towards a recently established entity, neglecting numerous organizations that have tirelessly contributed to the industry for years without any government support.
We urge the government to reconsider its decision and include the Uganda Musicians Association as a beneficiary. UMA, in collaboration with other key organizations, is actively working towards a unified front, representing artists across the nation.
We believe that a more inclusive approach will strengthen the industry as a whole and ensure sustainable growth for all entities involved” Cindy Sanyu posted on her social media accounts.
By the time this website did this story, the government was still tightlipped about her issue. Keep it Zivuga Uganda, we shall keep you informed about this.
