Police in Buikwe district are currently on the hunt for one of their officers, one Cpl Celestine Okello aged 50 who shot and killed his colleague, one PC Richard Mugobera, 45. The two officers were all on duty at Yogi Steel Factory in Malindi cell, Wakisi division, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe district.
Apparently, the duo were all stationed at Bujagali Police Unit. Mugobera was identified by the number 64776 while Okot was identified by the number 41875. Witnesses who were present at the crime scene provided some information about what really happened.
According to the information relayed, both Police and Priority One, a private security firm are the ones that provide security at this facility. It’s said that on a fateful day, Saturday 13th, the Police started their shift at 7pm.
They started by seeing off workers that were ending their day shift as well as seeing those coming in for the night shift. It’s further reported that Jasper Okello, a security guard contracted to Priority One stopped one of the workers who was leaving the premises.
He had suspected him of taking out a gauze roll from the factory. Consequently, he was taken into one of the interrogation rooms. As the questioning was going on, Celestine Okot came in and started harassing Okello making tempers to flare.
It was here that Mugobera came in and tried to calm the situation down. Out of anger, Okot reached for his gun from the table to try and shoot Okello but in the process shot Mugobera in the thighs. After this, he fled the premises with his firearm.
Mugobera was quickly transported to the hospital by his fellow officers but he unfortunately succumbed to the gunshot wounds. Mugobera’s gun was recovered at the scene.
A murder case in Buikwe District Central Police Station has already been opened up against Celestine Okot at the Police station, He’s currently on the run amidst being hunted and wanted.

This and more similar cases are increasingly becoming rampant and the cause of all this is always heated up arguments mostly.
