Police have in custody city lawyer, Managing Partner Ahamya Adocates, Sam Ahamya, 47, for shooting a guard dead. This happened at King’s Park Rugby Club at Kakajjo, Bweyogerere, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.
Further news about the shooting incident reveal that, it occurred on Saturday at around 10:00 pm. This was when Sam had gone there for a weekend outing and left the firearm at the entrance with a guard.
“It is alleged that the suspect Ahamya Sam went to Kings Park Rugby Club at around midday (Saturday, 20/01/2024) together with his two children for leisure,” the police report states in parts.
“He (Ahamya) was armed with a pistol which he left at the entrance with a police officer who was guarding there. At around 2200 hours, he got out to retrieve his weapon,” the report added. And explained that, in the process of NSP, that is when the bullet came out.
“Upon retrieval, Ahamya Sam attempted to perform a Normal Safety Precautions (NSP) with the magazine still in the pistol. In the process he shot and killed the guard a one identified as Buruga Nekeon.”
King’s Park confirmed the incident, saying it was cooperating with the police during the investigations. Ahamya Sam who is a resident of Buziga Makindye Division in Kampala District, is now in custody at Kira Police Division and a case of murder by shooting under reference number 44/20/01/2024 was opened.
More so, Buruga’s body has been taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital for postmortem. The 37-year-old Buruga was a resident of Kireka Railways, Bweyogerere Division Kira Municipality Wakiso District.

There is severe need to educate firearm holders on special techniques and safety measures before fully handling over those weapons to them. Because how would Ahamya fail to remove the magazine before performing PSN?
