Patrick Bitature 90.4 Dembe fm closing business

Breaking news getting to our desk indicate that, it is not good at all for the Dr. Patrick Bitature and NMG-owned and 8th Street, Industrial Area, Namuwongo, Kampala located radio station 90.4 Dembe fm. We are being informed that, after over 15 years in service, one of the oldest radio stations is closing business.

90.4 Dembe fm is quitting radios business on 31st December 2023. It is affiliated to Nation Media which also runs Daily Monitor newspaper and Kfm 93.3 radio. And it broadcasts content in Luganda language, on top of covering a wider area in Uganda.

The reason for Dembe Fm’s closure is not yet established. But our investigation indicate that the radio failed to cope with the modern demands of the audience it has. This can be explained by reflecting a few years back.

Since Dr. Patrick Bitature sold shares to Nation Media Group, 90.4 Dembe fm started to do advanced changes that included programming. This was confirmed by Joseph Beyanga who reported at that time that they were doing the changes in programming to cope up with the current listener trends.

Dembe fm has one of the top and cream presenters in Uganda that include. Kasuku (Talk n Talk show), Jacob Omutuuze, Bina Baibe (Mubeezi show), Sam Gombya, Ssenga Nantume. More so, Prossy Patra with Ekilove love show, Ruth Kalibala, Shafiq among others.

Media houses closing business is not new in Uganda as we have seen some like Hot 100, Love fm, Record television close. We don not know what is coming next at 90.4 Dembe fm, but all we know is that it is closing this December.
