Police in Namayingo district have in detention a one Henry Sida who burnt his daughter’s fingers after she asked him for school fees to return to school. It should be noted that the academic term started this week on the 27th of May.
Many parents are therefore grappling with school necessities as their children return to school. However, some deadbeat parents do not want to know a thing about their children’s academic welfare.
Henry Sida, 43, a resident of Buhemba Sub county’s Dohwe Village, has been taken into custody after setting his daughter’s fingers on fire. It is said that the father became enraged when his daughter, only known as Nabwire, asked him for the school dues so that she can go back to school for this term.
Apparently, when Henry Sida and his children’s mother separated, it is said that he neglected his paternal duties.
Solomon Baleke, the district commissioner for Namayingo Deputy Resident, verified Sida’s imprisonment. Following a report to the district authorities by the area LCI chairperson Charles Makhulo, Sida’s suspected unlawful behavior was discovered.

“We got a tip off from the area LCI chairman, Charles Makhulo, after Sida had burnt his child, and we went for him,” Baleke said. He said the security team who apprehended the suspect also took the victim to Buyinja Health Centre IV, where she was admitted.
He says investigations have started, promising that Sida will be arraigned in court soon.
