Several boda boda riders turned heroes when they helped to recover a woman’s bag in Kampala that was snatched by panga wielding thugs. The victim was identified as 36-year-old Hope Afoyotwoth. She’s a resident of Kamwokya and a teacher by profession.
This incident happened along Nakasero road in Kampala. These thugs who were riding on a motorcycle snatched the bag and rode away. It was reported that the bag contained valuables estimated to be around Shs 1.2m shillings.
As soon as her bag was snatched, she made an alarm that attracted attention of the passers-by which included boda boda riders. They quickly set charge on these thugs from Lumumba Avenue along Nakasero road and apprehended them around City Square. It was from here that Police took these thugs into custody.
Such cases are not a new thing especially in different parts of Kampala. CCTV footage has been released showing how these goons lay certain people and rob them in broad daylight. These not only rob them but also beat them to pulp.

They usually move in large numbers on motorcycles and they always seem to have prior knowledge about their victims. Despite Police attempts to curb criminality, high levels of law breaking especially by thugs has persisted. This is attributed to the factor that some of these are assisted by the law enforcers themselves.
