As Uganda gets ready to celebrate its 62nd independence day, a scary thing happened. A well-known opposition politician, Denis Senono, got kidnapped, making people worried about whether it’s safe to speak out against the government.

Just as Uganda is celebrating its independence, a dark cloud hangs over the festivities. Denis Senono, a big supporter of the biggest opposition party, National Unity Platform (NUP), was taken by armed men, and nobody knows where he is.

Eyewitnesses saw it happen and said he was taken from the NUP headquarters by guys in a dark tinted ‘drone’ car. This is super messed up and has everyone worried. The NUP is calling this another attack on them by the government.

The NUP leader, Kyagulanyi Robert, even went online to talk about how bad it is and how people need to protect each other. He’s basically saying this is what happens when you disagree with the government. It’s like something out of a movie, right before a revolution takes place.

It should further be noted that, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened, either. Lately, lots of people who question the government have been disappearing. Some have come back, as others have disappeared completely without trace up to now.

It makes you wonder, what does independence really mean if you can’t even say what you think? Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert the NUP president is asking everyone to team up and speak up against this, so things don’t get even worse.
