Bedridden Kawempe north MP, Hon Muhamad Ssegirinya appeared to the public in photos for the first time in a very long time and his situation has left many people worried about his visibly deteriorating health.

A photo of the MP together with his mother and Bobi Wine was shared on the NUP principal’s social media pages. According to Bobi Wine, the MP’s health has greatly improved.

He can now do a few things by himself such as walking. He is also responding positively to medication and is no longer in the intensive care unit. The NUP leader called upon all the well-wishers to continue praying for him.

“Passed by AghaKhan hospital in Nairobi to check on comrade, Hon Ssegirinya Muhamad where he is undergoing treatment. I was pleased to find that his health has greatly improved and is rapidly responding to medication.” he started.

“He is no longer in intensive care, he walks around by himself and his appetite is better than it was a few weeks ago. Let’s continue praying for and supporting him. By the grace of God, he will get well soon.” he concluded.

Bobi Wine nonetheless faced criticism from different social media users for sharing this photo since the MP looks so frail. It should be recalled that Ssegirinya has been in Kenya undergoing treatment since December 2023.

The Member of Parliament Muhammad Ssegirinya suffers from liver complications and other multiple organs. Rumors had even at one time made rounds that he might not make it out alive. However, it’s good to see that he is recuperating.

The MP has served his constituency largely in absentia ever since he was elected. A year after being nominated, he was arrested alongside Makindye West Mp Hon Allan Ssewanyana on allegations that they masterminded the Masaka killings in 2022.

However, they were later released but the charges are still pending and Muhamad Ssegirinya still has to appear to court when his health stabilizes.
