Evelyn Anite in a fresh corruption scandal

We do not know where this will end, but well, yeah again we are here and State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite is in hot soup, this time it is more serious.

A recent petition filed with the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU) is making some serious waves where the accused is Evelyn Anite, of some pretty shady stuff she does in her office.

One of the biggest accusations is that Anite forced the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) to use her own hotel, L’Hotel Le Confidentiel located in Arua, for catering during a summit in 2022 which was in Nebbi, another district from where the hotel is located.

The petitioner, Opolot Donozio, claims Anite pocketed over 50 million Ugandan shillings from the deal that was interesting her alone, talk about a conflict of interest! The petition also claims that Anite’s hotel was built with money she supposedly took from the Namanve Industrial Park which has never been seen stand up fully up to now.

And that’s not all! Opolot also alleges that Evelyn Anite has been meddling in land deals at the industrial park and using her power to squeeze money out of companies there. He also questions whether the new UIA board, which Anite appointed, is even legit.

He says they weren’t properly vetted and lack the experience for their roles. This whole thing gets even juicier because Opolot claims Anite fired the old UIA board just because they wouldn’t go along with her schemes.

These include; influencing the rehiring Robert Kyamanywa who was let go for poor performance! He ends his petition by straight-up accusing Anite of getting rich through corruption.

These issues stem from the day Evelyn herself woke up one day and posted the ‘ill’ dealings conducted in the UIA, accussing Robert Mukiza the Director General of being involved in the embezzlement of more than Ugx1bn.

This led to the Chairman Board of Uganda Investment Authority Morrison Rwakakamba to be fired, despite him showing that he was resigning, but the president was merciful enough to let him act like he resigned, but he was fired due to the internal wars that exposed all of them.
