Juma Wasswa Balunywa Arrested after MUBS protests and riots

News coming in to our breaking desk show that, Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Guild President hopeful Juma Wasswa Balunywa (JWB) has been arrested. This happened on the nomination day for the 2024 Guild President candidates where it is reported that JWB was not nominated.

The escalating protests at MUBS main campus in Nakawa, Kampala are being said to have started after it was made official that Juma Wasswa Balunywa (JWB) did not go through the nomination process.

This was confirmed by a video that is making rounds on social media showing Juma Wasswa Balunywa being detained at Naguru police. More to this, his father Prof. Waswa Balunywa has commented on this showing that Prof. Muhwezi is the one fighting his son.

“After all the hate campaign against me, Prof. Muhwezi finally gets my son beaten and arrested, history” Prof Wasswa Balunywa posted on his WhatsApp status. This adds to the fact that, days ago, with the help of Prof. Muhwezi, Juma Wasswa was denied a UYD party ticket and he decided to go independent.

This was another blow for those that seem to be fighting with his father Prof. Balunywa, and he was waited on the nomination day. It should be noted that, it is true JWB has a retake and with the law at MUBS, he was not eligible to contest for the guild seat.

But his team found loopholes in the law, and it was found out that he could still be nominated no matter what. That is why when he was denied the UYD ticket, he went on to come independent and was blocked from the nomination desk.
