Swangz Avenue Afrobeat singer and songwriter Priscilla Zawedde aka Azawi has come out of her comfort zone and commented on the recent stage feud with Ray G. This attracted media attention and has trended for more than 3 days now.
This happened in Mbarara a few days ago while at a Comedy Store organized show, and Azawi was seen performing while Ray G was also standing on stage. Caused by a miscommunication from the organisers, Ray G was set to perform in his scheduled time according to the performance lineup of the night.
It was the same time Azawi was handed a microphone to perform also, and this didn’t go well down Ray G’s throat. He instead sabotaged her set and caused drama on stage. Since then, Azawi has been quiet about it until today when she felt things were falling apart.
In her statement posted on social media, Azawi asserted that it was not her fault to perform in a set that was not meant for her. She added that it is the organisers that gave her the microphone to perform and she could not reject it. She added that, Ray G is just chasing clout and looking for relevance by disorganizing her set.
Furthermore, in this long post Azawi sets the record straight that Ray G is using tribal sentiments to tarnish her image. The Omwenge hit maker continued to ask her Mbarara fans to remain calm and expect her to deliver any time she is called upon. She ended by demanding an apology from Ray G for disturbing her peace.
“I tried to avoid a pointless argument started by a disrespectful artist. Your interruption during my performance, along with verbal abuse, and now using this for attention, deserves an apology from you. As an artist, I don’t control event schedules. When my music is playing and the promoter hands me the mic and the stage, I perform. Your attempt to disrupt my set was unprofessional” She started her rant.

“I have realized that this is a recurring trick you play in Mbarara, undermining fellow artists. My commitment to my craft and the respect of my audience is of utmost importance; I will not allow anyone to diminish that. Unfortunately, you have resorted to exploiting tribal/regional sentiments for publicity” she added some nails in Ray G’s head.
“To my Mbarara fans, I promise to honor your expectations always. Every performance will be genuine, unaffected by any self-centered, opportunistic actions from other artists or politicians.” she added.
“My loyalty lies with my music and genuine interaction with my fans, not with those who use publicity stunts for personal gain” Azawi ended her rant as she notified that all that Ray G did was just a publicity stunt
