Buhweju District in Uganda is in mourning after the unexpected death of their Vice Chairman, Expedito Rukundo. He was a prominent figure in local government, passed away this afternoon from multi-organ failure, leaving a community shocked and saddened by his sudden departure.
Rukundo’s dedication to public service was evident throughout his career. Before becoming Vice Chairman, he served as the district Speaker from 2016 to 2021, demonstrating his commitment to representing the people of Buhweju.
News of his passing spread so fast, prompting an outpouring of grief and condolences on social media. People from all walks of life expressed their sadness, remembering Rukundo for his work and the impact he had on their lives.
Many Ugandans took to social media to say “it is so unfortunate that he pass away at such a young age.” He was one of those that held the mantle of the development of Buhweju, and everyone is cursing the multi organs failure case.
During a special council sitting this morning, Buhweju District Chairman Deo Atuhaire and members of the District Executive Committee paid their respects by laying a wreath at Rukundo’s casket.
The image of this solemn gathering speaks volumes about the respect and admiration Expedito Rukundo earned during his time in office. The fountain of harmony has fallen and left Buhweju area in complete darkness.
