Another Ugandan is on her way to break the Guinness World Record of the longest cooking marathon known as the Coockathon. It is none other than Dorcus Kirabo Bashebah, popularly known as Mama D, who owns Mama D’s Keychen.
It should be noted that, this was picked up back then in May when a Nigerian chef called Hilda Baci, beat the previous world record held by Indian Chef Lata Tondon. This inspired other Africans to take the challenge on since it was seen as a possible challenge to do.
Who is Mama D?
She is well known because of her online kitchen, dishes, trays, platters and cooking the best dishes online. She describes herself as a food vendor who sells lunch packs, does events catering, gives food hampers, does meals preparations and more.
She is stationed in Kira where her kitchen is, and she has served happy Ugandans for more than a year. She has embarked on breaking the GWR of a cooking marathon, which she is determined to break in 121 hours, on day 5 since she started.
The Challenge
Dorcus Kirabo Bashebah is currently stationed at Zoe’s Cakes ‘n’ Bites in Kira where she has since embarked on a cooking spree, expected to span 5 days. Lacing up a total of 121 hours. This is when she will have surpassed the current record of the most cooking hours.
On why Mama D chose to take on the challenge upon herself, a close source from Mama D’s Keychen quipped that, she is determined to spice up her career and achieve a milestone that will put her cooking skills in a better position.
“Mama D is set and ready to take this on, she has great cooking skills and her services are topnotch. She says that the reason she took the challenge on, is to achieve a milestone in her career that will position her well” the source revealed.
The venue where this coockathon is taking place, Zoe’s Cakes ‘n’ Bites has since been flocked by thousands of friends, family, and well-wishers of Mama D. More so, social media influencers, media have also rallied behind her to help her achieve this record. More so, the food that she cooks, is being given out to whoever gets present at the venue, to eat and rate and eat again.

Furthermore, it should be known that, the current holder of the GWR of cooking is an Irish chef known as Alan Fisher, who cooked for a whooping 119 hours and 57 minutes. He is the one that took over from the Nigerian Hilda Effiong Bassey aka Hilda Baci, who cooked for 93 hours and 11 minutes.
In so doing, Dorcus Kirabo Bashebah is taking on the coockathon to bring back the pride back home to Africa. And by the time of this publication, she had surpassed 50 hours of her quest to write history and she is still counting where the live event is covered by Urban television live.
