Ugandans complain about the UMEME new yaka meters for stealing their units and being expensive

Ugandans have decided to throw their frustration to social media over the alleged theft of UMEME with its new yaka meters. This was championed by comedian Patrick Salvador who showed his frustration first and others followed suit since they felt they had got a voice now.

In their anger, netizens showed how the new yaka meters from UMEME can chop the electricity units in just minutes after loading them. Something that is different from the old yaka meters which would economize a little bit.

When it came to comedian Patrick Salvador, he said that his bills have tripled after the new yaka meters from UMEME were installed at his house. He gave a scenario and said that, some units of his were stolen by UMEME engineers when they were changing the meters.

As if that was not enough, after installing the new yaka meter, while using the same appliances he has been using all along, his usual bill of power usage shot from 100,000 shillings to over 300,000 shillings a month.

Who else has realised that the new yaka meters of UMEME somehow deplete your units faster? I had my old unit stolen by UMEME engineers in the pretense that it was faulty, the reconnected me on a new one.” Salvador started his ordeal. He added how his usage bill shot up in a month.

Now for the same appliances I’ve been using before, I consume thrice units with this new meter, something isn’t adding up from 100k t a month to over 300k, its questionable” he ended his outcry.

Many users jumped on this and started to throw their anger to UMEME limited asking it to be considerate and stop stealing from Ugandans. Most of them resorted to attack telecom companies asking whether UMEME want to join them and loot from Ugandans.
