Tanzania floods kill 58 and leave many homeless

TANZANIA: Tanzania have been experiencing heavy rains and floods ever since from 1st April 2024 to 14th April which led to severe flooding and severe weather conditions hence leaving fifty eight down with no life and others being affected with several injuries.

Severe weather could also trigger flight delays and cancellations across the country and also lead to widespread of havoc with more than thirty houses and schools demolished.

While appearing at the press conference which was held on Sunday in the port city of Dar- Salaam, the chief government spokesperson Mr. Mobhare Matinyi said that essential supplies have been distributed to the affected people.

“Essential supplies including food had been distributed to those that were affected. Tanzania plans to construct fourteen dams to prevent flooding in the future.” Mr. Mobhare Matinyi also delivered the records about the affected mainland regions of Tanzania and the number of people injured.

Ten were recorded in Arusha region, eleven in coast, six in Mbeya, two in Dar-Salaam, ten in Rukwa.” He added. The coastal and Morogoro regions were hardest hit where 4,635 and 6,204 households have been affected hence making people around hopeless.

Tanzania floods affected over hundred thousand people in these rains and bad weather. Furthermore, it should be known that, Tanzania last experienced heavy rain and landslides few months back in Hannang district hence leaving out forty-seven dead and eighty five injured.
