Socialite Don Nasser remains behind bars for more than a week as police investigations continue into shocking allegations of child trafficking and sexual exploitation. Nasser, a well-known figure in Kampala’s social scene, appeared in court on 8 October 2024 and was further remanded in custody.
Don Nasser was initially arrested in Kenya on 23 September 2024 over many cases that have human trafficking and defilement. Him and his co-accused, Ateete Promise, allegedly abducted a 16-year-old girl and held her captive at Nasser’s residence in Kira Division for three days in May 2024.
Promise, a personal assistant to MP Yona Musinguzi, is also in custody at Luzira prison. Both have pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case is set to be heard at the High Court due to the serious nature of the alleged offences.
It should be remembered that, Nasser has been one of those young men that torment Kampala’s night life and living a lavish lifestyle. He is remembered for flashing out dollar bills whenever he went, and making his neigbore ‘rich’ by blessing them with a few bucks here and there.
