Uganda currently is going through a lot as a country where it lost one of the loyal Members of Parliament Cecilia Ogwal, it is hosting the NAM summit, G77+China summit and more. Now Opposition leaders (Bobi Wine, Kiiza Besigye, Erias Lukwago) and others homes have been condoned off by security operatives as they were planning to demonstrate.

This demonstration was planned and announced while at the Katonga United Forces of Change presser that was held a few days ago. The reason for this demonstration was to expose the government about the bad state of roads that Ugandans use daily.

Bobi Wine aka Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert, Kiiza Besigye and Erias Lukwago were spearheading this, and their homes were the first to be surrounded by the military to stop them from moving out and lead the demonstrations.

Bobi, yesterday filmed himself while on a potholed road and asked Ugandans to be part of the demonstration since the whole world is now focusing on Uganda because of the NAM summit and expose the regime.

The poor state of roads in Uganda has been a daily song for a long time, where the potholed roads are more than the worked on roads. Many campaigns have been running on the internet by Ugandans especially those headed by Cartoonist Jimmy Spire.

These campaigns yielded no results since they were just done online. So, the Opposition block thought it would be wise to hold the protests physically and get change. Erias Luwkago, Kiiza Besigye and Bobi Wine confirmed the news.

My home is under siege, and accessing it is not easy as security operatives have sealed it off” Erias Lukwago said to the media. Bobi Wine called the regime cowards after his home was sealed off.

The cowardly military and police have surrounded our home and put us under house arrest, but the protest is on. Fix our riads, free political prisoners, free Uganda” Bobi Wine ranted on his social media platforms. This was followed by Dr. Kiiza Besigye as he also called the regime cowards.

Barricades at home by the cowards, no turning back, we deserve better. Please do what you can- wherever you are, with whatever you have to show the terrible roads affecting you today” Dr. Kiiza Besigye posted on X.

We shall keep you posted and in the know.
