Government to Transform Arua Airport into an International Airport

Arua airport to be transformed into International Airport

The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Works and Transport is aiming at extending services of air transport in Uganda in all regions. And as you read this, plans to turn Arua airport into an international airport are under way.

This news was revealed by the Ministry of Works and Transport this evening after Minister Gen. Katumba Wamala signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the investor that will take on the development of this international airport.

This private investor is called Ms. East of Eden and will first make a feasibility study that will enable for a well planning of this. Arua international airport will be developed under the Build, Operate and Transfer model (BOT). This is a project management technique where a company hires a third-party firm to create a new subsidiary or product.

This development comes after Entebbe International Airport was upgraded and given a whole new look that has ever since enticed Ugandans and other travelers. In addition, we are seeing Hoima International Airport, also known as Kabalega International Airport constructions works nearing 85% of completion.
