Many people have been in absolute shock after news that Frank Muthusi, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the advertising agency Fire Works, had fallen and died in his toilet. Muthusi aged 41 was a popular figure in the public relations and advertising sectors in Uganda.
“It’s with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the untimely demise of our Group CEO, Mr. Frank Muthusi,” Fire Works Advertising wrote in a statement issued on Wednesday evening.
“Frank was not just a leader but also a mentor, friend and father to many in the advertising world,” said the agency, adding, “We will forever miss you, Frank.”
However, the organization withheld information about Muthusi’s death. But according to acquaintances, Muthusi a computer scientist by background—showed up at work on Tuesday. Besides, he displayed no symptoms of being ill. Muthusi’s colleagues were unable to contact him on his cellphone on Wednesday morning because it was turned off.
“There was a sense that something was wrong because Muthusi always promptly picked or returned calls,” said a colleague who preferred anonymity citing privacy concerns.
Muthusi’s pals quickly hurried to his house on Namugongo Road, fearing the worst. More suspicion was aroused by the locked residence. Upon forcing open the door, friends found Muthusi dead in his bathtub.

After hearing of Muthusi’s passing, Ugandans took to social media platform X, to pay tribute to him.
