There has been a deadly accident that took place this morning at 08:20 am at Nkumba traffic lights along Entebbe road. This involved a construction company trucker and a small Mitsubishi car.
This Nkumba accident claimed two lives of the occupants of the Mitsubishi RVR Registration number UBQ 371P car, and the driver of the truck Registration number UAN 836D was apprehended by SFC officers as he tried to escape the scene.
This accident happened when the cars were lined up waiting for traffic lights to turn green and release them. That is when the truck that was carrying concrete came from behind and lost control, it hit the barriers separating the two roads (that from Entebbe Airport and that heading to the airport).
Eyewitnesses attribute this Nkumba accident to the poor mechanical conditions of the truck and failure to read the traffic lights well. Other people attribute the accident to the poorly stationed traffic lights as this is not the first accident to happen at this place the same way.

This is because when one is entering the slope where the traffic lights are located, they can not easily see the first lights yet they are the ones that control traffic from Kampala. By the time of this publication, the real number of the people that died in the small car was not yet fully established but no survivor was registered.
However, Eyewitness said there was one occupant in the Mitsubishi RVR who is presumed dead and his body is still trapped in the wreckage.
