Bobi Wine Calls Out NEMA – Says Enough is Enough

Bobi Wine attacks NEMA about the Bulenga evictions

Families in Bulenga, central part of Uganda are facing a difficult situation as they are being forced to leave their homes. This is because the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is taking back the land.

Many people are upset about this because the families were not given any warning or help to find new places to live. Bobi Wine, a famous musician and politician, is speaking out against what is happening. He believes that the government is not treating the people fairly.

Ugandan singer turned politician, Bobi Wine, is very upset about this situation where people are rendered homeless by the government. He even posted a video on social media showing a bulldozer knocking down buildings, kicking up a huge cloud of dust. Basically, he’s saying that what’s happening is totally unfair.

He said that this is the impunity of the highest order alongside the video he posted. He’s basically saying that people in power are doing whatever they want without any consequences. He even went on to say, “Until we all decide that it’s time to say ‘enough is enough,’ this issue will persist.” He’s urging people to stand up and fight for what’s right.

The video, which came from a local television, Bukedde TV, was captioned in Luganda, a local language, saying “NEMA drives away people.” It’s a pretty sad sight to see people losing their homes like this. Bobi Wine has been criticizing the Ugandan government for a long time, especially when it comes to how they deal with land and environmental issues.

He thinks the government often ignores the needs of vulnerable people. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, and it probably won’t be the last. While NEMA claims they’re doing this to help the environment, people are skeptical.

Many families say they lived in Bulenga for a long time, only to see their homes demolished within hours. They weren’t given any other options for housing or any money to help them get back on their feet. It’s like someone just came in and took everything away from them without a second thought.

People online are commenting on Wine’s sentiments, with many saying that this is a violation of human rights, asking where will these people go. They’re basically saying that everyone deserves a place to live, and the government can’t just kick people out of their homes without any support.

Sadly, this isn’t an isolated incident. Land evictions have become a big problem in Uganda. People are accusing the government and private investors of kicking people off their land without following the proper rules. It’s like a big land grab, and the people who are already struggling are the ones who suffer the most.
